About Christy

October 22nd, 2006

I currently live in Southwestern Virginia in a sweet little town with my husband, Steve, my 18 year old son, Dylan and my 4 year old daughter, Hannah.  I love spending time with my family…and we are constantly trying to invent new and exciting ways of spending time together.

When I began this blog, things were a bit different for me…for us.  Since beginning this blog, we have adopted our daughter, homeschooled our son and moved to a different state, with my husband starting a new job.  There have been physical changes, yes, but many changes in paradigms as well.  We have not attended church in 6 years (other than visiting for music related events)…we have not changed our relationship with God, just our views on participating in organized “religion”.  It has caused many people to question us, not really understanding our position, but believe me, our relationship with God is the strongest it has ever been.  Educationally, there has been a paradigm shift to educate our children outside of the box of structured learning and toward learning in freedom.  What we have discovered is that this philosophy spills over into all parts of our life, because really, it is ALL learning.  So, whether it is learning to use the potty or deciding a career path, we respect and trust our children’s internal guidance.  That seems scary to some, but for us, it is the right path…we have 2 beautiful children and we want them to know that we are with them through it all…even when we don’t understand and may choose a different path for ourselves.  We still trust them…completely.

My desire in writing on this blog is to share a bit about our journey while learning in freedom….and that brings me to the name of this blog, Until My Last Breath.  Throughout this journey of paradigm shifts and trusting our children, I have learned a bit about myself.  I have learned about what really makes me come alive.  And what I have found is that I truly LOVE to connect with others…connecting through music, art and our children is what makes me come alive! So, when I look at the title of this blog, I think….oh, how perfect…connecting with others through those mediums is what I do and will continue to do….Until My Last Breath!
